Abstract :
Starting from the discussion on issues related to charmed hadron production in heavy ion collisions, we investigate the effects of charmonium production by recombination of charm and anti-charm quarks on the nuclear modification factor of charmonium. We show that the production of charmonium through charm quark recombination plays an important role in understanding various aspects of charmonium production in heavy ion collisions.
