Description
The experimental observation of a number of excited charmed and bottom baryons has significantly enriched heavy-baryon spectroscopy and provides an important opportunity to study the nonperturbative dynamics of QCD. We classify the P-wave singly heavy baryons according to their flavor representations, internal orbital excitations, and the angular momenta of their light degrees of freedom. Their masses are calculated using QCD sum rules, while their strong and radiative decay properties are studied using light-cone sum rules. By combining the mass spectra with the predicted decay patterns, we investigate possible assignments of the experimentally observed singly heavy baryons.
